Over the past few years, even though the quantity of spy movies, the patriotic ones, has increased, the quality has taken a downward spiral. The plot of the movies is always the same: the action sequences, the dialogues, the character arcs; it’s like filmmakers have forgotten to explore what more can be done. Well, we watchedAlphaand here’s what we thought about it.
Directed by Shiv Rawail, YRF Spy Universe’s upcoming instalment,Alpha, has finally been released on the big screens after being postponed multiple times. The movie starsAlia Bhatt, Sharvari, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor in leading roles, with Hrithik Roshan, Dia Mirza, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya making special appearances.

Alpha Plot
The plot of the movie is simple: raised away from the world, with Alpha blood running through her veins, by Fateh Singh Lakhawat (Bobby Deol), an unbeatable soldier, Sita (Alia Bhatt) goes against her adoptive father. A killing machine, she sets out to find Colonel Vikrant Kaul (Anil Kapoor). While researching, she gets to know that not only is Kaul her father, but she also has a fraternal twin sister, Durga (Sharvari). The family of three bands together to defeat Lakhawat and his mission.
AlphaPros & Cons
Frankly, the events in the movie happen conveniently, with every plot twist being predictable.
Alpha feels more like a manual on how to look good while fighting and ace your fashion game, no matter how much distress you are in, than an action spy thriller. While there is not much to share about the performances of the actors, as they did what they were told to do, one thing is for sure: Alia and Sharvari looked really cool beating up bad guys, guns blazing, and riding bikes on mountain terrain.

Speaking of performances, however, one that stood out the most (Yes, more than THE Kabir’s cameo) was that of Dibyendu Bhattacharya. Essaying the role of Dr Varghese, the bond he creates with a younger Sita really brings a smile to your face and then makes your heart ache. Roshan’s cameo, which had the full potential to surprise the viewers and become one of the most discussed topics on the internet, was ruined as it was revealed in the trailer itself.
